XOXO stands for?

Do u know what does XOXO stands for?

I just happen to come across this word and i was being stumped by its meaning.

XOXO stands for hug and kisses.

WHAT THE HELL?

LOL!!!!

I dont believe it so i when google it and i guess its true.

"Hugs and kisses is a term for a sequence of the letters x and o, e.g. xoxo, typically to express affection or good friendship at the end of a written letter, e-mail or SMS text message, in which, according to most sources, "x" means kisses and "o" means hugs.[1][2][3][4][5] The use of "x" to signify a kiss is more long-standing than the use of "o", dating back at least to 1763.[1][6] However, some believe that the symbols "x" and "o" are reversed, with "o" meaning kisses and "x" meaning hugs.[7]
